  • Color Block Balloon Garland

This is what Ahzahdeh shared about the party:

“Being a party planner, I always strive to make my little one’s birthday the best it can be. This, of course, means I’m planning months in advance. This year, my plans were thrown for a loop (and then another loop, and then another loop) as I kept having to think of new ways to make it fun yet still COVID-safe. My daughter had been asking for a Frozen party for months, and I knew there could still be some fun elements, even with the new restrictions in place.

Decorations:

Since we live in Los Angeles and my daughter’s birthday is in the middle of summer, we opted to use both the inside and outside of our house for the party.

For inside, I created a tassel wall using plastic tablecloths from Party City. They usually have a great deal of 5 for $5, so I bought three coordinating colors – light blue, lavender, and silver. Using a paper trimmer, I cut the tablecloths into one-inch strips, and then strung them through a frame. I made the frame using a backdrop stand and green fencing purchased from the hardware store. It was a pretty easy process that took 3-4 hours total. My daughter even loved helping me thread the pieces through the holes!

I created a coordinating balloon garland to go around the backdrop, with fun “icicle” star balloons to really make it pop. New Project Designs created the custom name sign in a Frozen font, using colors that I sent her from the tassel wall. She also color-matched the wooden pedestals to hold the desserts, so the overall look really flowed without being too matchy-matchy.

Sweets & Food:

Amy Cakes and Sweet Treats delivered the gorgeous and absolutely irresistible desserts, all coordinated to match the party colors. We opted for single-serve desserts only, so cupcakes, cookies, chocolate covered oreos, and rice krispie treats were all included. We did also have a small 6″ cake so the birthday girl could blow out her candles and have her own mini-cake to herself (mom definitely helped her eat it, though.)

Once our few guests arrived, we served snow cones– originally we were going to have a vendor serve them, but we realized it was safer to just purchase our own machine from Amazon, and now we can enjoy snow cones any time we want!

The food was kept to a minimum. We served carrots and ranch in clear Frozen cups as “Sven’s Treats”, and mini-sandwiches individually served with a sign that read “We Finish Each Other’s Sandwiches”.

Photo Booth & Party Activities:

For outside, we asked New Project Designs to make four wooden arch panels, custom colored to match the party theme. Since our daughter was turning four, we went with the theme “For the First Time in Four-Ever”, and NPD made a custom sign to go on the arches. We added color-blocked balloons to the top of the arches, and this made a fun photo-op that was also safe and socially distant from others.

The big hit from the party was when we made it snow! Using a fake snow machine, we set it up to “snow” over our front yard, and the kids had a BLAST playing in it. We used a super-dry formula, which actually stuck to the grass, making it look like real snow! Everyone played and belted out “Let It Go!” and it really helped make the party fun.

Party Favors:

For the goodie bag table, I created a sign that said “Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post” using a wooden hanging sign purchased from a craft store, and cut out vinyl lettering. Each guest received a bag full of coloring books, yo-yos, an Olaf sipper, and probably the best gift of all: hand sanitizer. We purchased the mini bottles from Bath & Body Works, and had custom stickers made that we attached onto each bottle. The guests loved them, and it helped encourage everyone to keep their hands clean while at the party.”
