Planned Identity Of Mysterious Caesar Sikoa Revealed (2024)

WWE recently filled a trademark for the name “Caesar Sikoa” leading many to speculate that a new Bloodline member could be on their way to the WWE.

Rumours went into overdrive after Jacob Fatu debuted on last week’s SmackDown but without the Caesar name.

Who is Caesar Sikoa? Is there another Bloodline member about to arrive?

The short answer is no as revealed by Dave Meltzer in this morning’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meltzer revealed that Caesar was the original planned name for Jacob Fatu but the name was scrapped prior to his debut.

He writes:

“Obviously with Jacob Fatu debuting under his own name, and WWEthen taking out a trademark for the name, he will not be Caesar Sikoa. Caesar Sikoa was the first idea for Fatu’s name, but they made the call to keep his Jacob Fatu name, which is surprising since it’s his real name. But this regime isn’t as quick to change people’s names (Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) as Vince was where he wanted full ownership of the name and also that if the person left, they couldn’t use the name they used in WWE.

This group appears to want those just starting out to be given stage names, but if you’ve made a name elsewhere, they aren’t as quick to make you change that name. But in this case it’s surprising since Jacob Fatu was never even in AEW, NJPW or TNA, and while those who follow indies or MLW would know his name, most would not. They do own the Caesar Sikoa name and it could be used by somebody else going forward, but it was trademarked last week for him.”

Joe Hendry is currently taking the wrestling world by storm and on July 14th he returns to his hometown of Edinburgh for the latest Discovery Wrestling show.

Hendry, a former Discovery Wrestling Y Division Champion, is set to team with former WWE Superstar Elias, now known as Elijah.

Discovery Wrestling announced that the pair of musical phenoms would be pairing via social media.

“Joe Hendry will team with Elijah when Discovery Wrestling returns on July 14th.

Get ready to say their names!

Adam Copeland suffered a devastating injury at Double or Nothing following a botched cage dive during a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match for the TNT Championship against Malakai Black.

Taking to Instagram, Copeland would share his latest update with fans alongside a rather gruesome photo of the broken ankle.

Copeland would reveal that the splint has been removed and he has now had a further five screws and a metal plate added in place.

“The splint is off! More scars! 5 more screws and another plate. I’m becoming Robocop.”

Much has been made of WWE’s gate success throughout 2024, but how are things in AEW.

Well according to Dave Meltzer, things look on the up with AEW Forbidden Door seemingly set to break the current years gate record for the company, currently held by AEW Revolution, and top over $1,000,000 for the third year running.

Discussing ticket sales for Forbidden Door in this morning’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer would state:

“At press time the show had 9,738 tickets out, so it has sold great over the past week. Tony Khan at the press call on 6/27 said the show would do in excess of 10,000 tickets sold and in excess of $1 million, marking the third straight Forbidden Door show to top $1 million.

The impression he gave was that it would top the mark, and if it has already, then it will end up as the highest AEW gate this year.

The highest so far was $1,025,000 that Revolution did in Greensboro for Sting’s retirement.

This is also impressive since WWE was running Smackdown in Madison Square Garden two days earlier and already had 15,564 tickets out at press time which would be comfortably over $1 million

I don’t know if there’s been a weekend in U.S. history where two different companies had done a $1 million gate in the same market other than the 2019 when WrestleMania was in the New York market Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, and New Japan/ROH ran Madison Square Garden.”

With Dijak’s impending WWE departure announced many fans have begun speculating where they will be “feasting their eyes” on Dijak next.

AEW has become the frontrunner amongst fans, something Dave Meltzer does not agree with.

Writing in this morning’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer would reveal he fears Dijak would get lost in the shuffle in AEW.

“The guy is and has always been very physically talented and athletic, made more impressive since he’s a legit 6-foot-5. He had some incredible matches in NXT (think Oba Femi vs. Dijak vs. Wes Lee and singles vs. Wes Lee) of late.

He was believable as a badass talker in NXT but lacked in main roster charisma, although he was never really given a chance as he was put in dead end gimmicks and then never used.

To me, right now, he could be great in New Japan. There’s nothing wrong with him in AEW except they have so many guys that unless there was a specific great idea for him, he’d just be lost in the shuffle.”

Iconic UK Wrestling promotion World of Sport (WOS) is set for a shock return!

The UK based promotion that closed it’s doors back in 2019, today released a press release confirming that it would be returning for a limited run of shows.

WOS will return with 2 shows, dubbed World of Sport: The Return, on Saturday, September 14th at Epic Studios in Norwich, the same location where the 2018 ITV series was filmed.

Wrestlers confirmed for the event include Grado, Sha Samuels, Adam Maxted, Martin Kirby, Alpha Male Iestyn Rees and Ashton Smith.

Speaking about the upcoming shows and the revival of WOS, Grado said the following:

“I am delighted WOS: The Return is happening. WOS last toured in 2019 with packed shows across the country and I am excited to get back out there showcasing the best performers this country has to offer under the WOS banner. Professional wrestling is booming around the world and British Wrestling needs a proper presentation with WOS.”

Alongside the upcoming shows, WOS announced that exclusive social content and shows has been created for YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

2024 for a blockbuster year for the WWE and they have continued their push for international brand development by partnering with Premier League Champions, if we ignore 115 charges, and last years Champions League winners Manchester City.

Yesterday, WWE would release a new line of Manchester City inspired WWE merchandise, along with issuing the following press release:

“Manchester City and WWE have announced an exclusive merchandise collaboration that will see the two globally-recognized brands featured together across a range of new products.

The new collection will include six T-shirts featuring Manchester City and WWE, such as a CM Punk “Best Team in the Land and All the World” shirt and other tees featuring Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin design inspiration.

As part of the collaboration, Manchester City and WWE have jointly designed a new name and number style that the the Premier League professional football club’s players will wear in their games scheduled to play during a preseason tour of America this summer. The design features the WWE logo within the number and a red outline.

The new range of T-shirts are available at WWEShop.com, shop.mancity.com and Fanatics.com. Additionally, the merchandise will be available in the recently opened pop-up CityStore at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

To celebrate the launch ahead of SmackDown at Madison Square Garden this Friday, WWE Women’s Champion Bayley and Baron Corbin will visit the CityStore on 6th Avenue in New York City Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. for an exclusive meet-and-greet. The Premier League trophy will also be in store Friday and throughout the weekend.

Hulk Hogan has heaped praise on WWE star Bron Breakker claiming that he could be the companies next Steve Austin or The Rock.

Breakker has impressed fans and management a like during his brief WWE career thus far both as the face of NXT and now on the WWE main roster.

Speaking withBill Apter of Sportskeeda, Hogan heaped praise on the former NXT Champion and stated that he might be the next Stone Cold or The Rock:

“He’s something else. He’s wise beyond his years, To be that intense and to know that the red light is on and be able to stay in that zone, it’s very impressive. If they do the right thing with him, that could be the next Stone Cold [Steve Austin],Rock, or Hulk Hogan. He could be the guy.”

Continuing, Hogan was asked if he saw similarities between Breakker and another wrestler known for being an explosive powerhouse, Goldberg:

“A lot of similarities. He has that extra spice. Bill had a certain thing. I had a certain thing. Rock had a certain thing. Bron Breakker has all of the above, plus he has a little extra spice on his plate. He’s ramped it up, and he’s just getting started. I can’t even imagine what’s going to happen when he really figures it out.”

“He’s beyond the ‘quick kill’ protection. He can go, from what I see. He’s been broke in the correct way. He’s put time in. He’s ready to go. Moving forward, I hope he learns and picks up more wisdom. Some guys are in the business for 15 to 20 years, they think they’re smart and they’re main event guys, but they never figure it out.
